Использование в разных языках
Короткое тире (en dash) используется в английском языке.
В русском и украинском языках короткого тире нет.
Короткое тире обычно не отделяется пробелами по сторонам. Исключения делаются только в тех случаях, когда применение короткого тире без пробелов будет вызывать неоднозначность или выглядеть непонятно. Например, сравните:
12 June – 3 July
и
12 June–3 July.
Сочетания клавиш
Чтобы вставить в текст короткое тире используют вот эти сочетание клавиш:
Windows — «Alt+0150»
macOS — «Option+hyphen key».
В html — «–».
Случаи применения короткого тире (en dash)
Диапазоны
Применяется для соединения цифр и реже слов при указании диапазонов («от — до» или «включая»).
Her college years, 1998–2002, were the happiest in her life.
